i havnt finished watching the vids cos i cant be bothered, but cut a long story short, prostitution is legal here in australia (and other parts of the world) i know many prostitutes (and strippers, and the rest of it) on a personal level and i see far and away more harm coming from a situation where its illegal
the prostitutes i know work in brothels, have security guards watching them almost all the time (they have signals they give to the guard if they want a certain client removed), they have regular STD checks bla bla bla and its as safe as it can be here on planet Earth.
Sure there are some young girls that work there from displaced homes. sure some are addicted to drugs. sure theres gang involvement. sure some could have better lives overall and you feel sorry for some of them, but do you replace one evil with another ie force it underground so that a different demographic of women can suffer a different set of arguably more insidious abuses? fucking ridiculous.
half the shit you see in westernized society is a load of shit. throwing people into jail or fostering a criminal underground is AT LEAST as bad an outcome as having various distasteful practices unregulated. what would you rather have, 1000 pot smokers with their lives ruined by their own dumb choice, or 1000 pot smokers with their lives ruined because they were thrown into jail for smoking pot?
then waht pisses you off is that the very scaremongering claims that politicians/church groups are making are proved to be dead wrong when you look at other parts of the world where the supposed 'harmful' practices are legal - the amsterdam example is rather striking. legal pot, minimal criminal underground, same rate of use amongst the population, no one goes to jail, the state makes tax revenue. wheres the downside? there isnt one.
