Since I ahve been doing squats the outside of my quads have gotten much bigger then the inner tear drop. What can i do to build that up?
 
as it should be..the vastus is smaller than the outer part of the quad..it wouldnt look good natural otherwise..the other option is front squats but i really dont believe they hit the vastus more..i do em frequently and i will say i feel them slightly more in my quads than reg wide stance squats
 
I'm getting the same thing bro... I have to squat wide or else my left knee hurts. But that shifts growth to the VML. Maybe try adding leg extension, with toes slightly pointed out. I couldn't personally do that though, my legs are dead enough after squats
 
past shoulder width is usually wide. i do them wide, with my feet pointed out a little and i must say it doesnt hurt my knees nearly as much, i go balls to the floor. and my outter quad is a lot bigger than my vastus medialis too. i love wider squats.
