Lee Haney????

Another question:

Why do we never see Lee Haney(one of the greatest) in any bodybuilding magazines?

You see old photos of everyone ranging form Arnold, Zane, Mentzer to Platz. But never Haney...even when Haney was winning all of the Mr. O's he wasn't on too many covers.

Maybe he was smart enough not to sign with Weider.

Becaue Weider used to make bodybuilders sign contracts for little money to use their images.

I remember seeing a special about Dave Draper. Weider used dozens of Drapers photos in every one of his magazines for years but didn't give him a dime. And this was when Draper was dirt poor and having serious financial and drug problems.

Just wondering what happened to big Lee.

i dont think you can appear at the olympia with out being enslaved to weider

lee did sign with Weider, have you seen Weider Principal's video collection lee is all over those

in all fareness lee was not the greatest and he surely did not pioneere anything, or brought anything new to the sport, if you watch any of his videos and listen to what he says you quickly realise that he was not a very educated person so say the least

at least arnold admited to using AS, lee starts off every video with "freaky size and incredible definition is a mark of year of training and nutrition, and this does not include the use of anabolic steroids", why say that?? better to not say anything at all then to claim to be natural mr. olimpya

First I did not say Haney was the best....but if you win 8 straight Olympias you are one of the greatest.

But if you are going to have Zane and Platz in Flex every few months...might as well throw in Haney.

I never saw those videos but I am sure Weider scripted those.

i agree with strongisland on this one

weider is like a weird puppet master

ask lee priest he will tell you the truth and thats why he will never be mr olympia (well mabey its because hes 4'11")

what do you mean lee never brought anything into bodybuilding?? he brought freaky mass before dorian stomped him

I don't know why so many people credit this guy for being the first freaky big bodybuilder. I don't think so. He may have followed in others footsteps, but he certainly was far from the first. Are any of you forgetting Sergio? That s.o.b had a back close to Colemans. He wasa huge slab of muscle, and this was in the 60's. And what about Lou Ferrigno? He was huge up to 75, but then in 76 when he moved to Cali, he was even bigger. Those two were the true pioneers of the mass monsters.

LOL ferrigno was weak in 75 bro....his back was terrible.

Sergio's back was no where near Coleman's either....but you can chalk that up to today's drug regimen.

Look at Haney's legs and look at everyone else's before him. Look at Haney's lats and look at everyone else's, no contest bro.

Haney was the shit....not only was he big but he was also balanced.

b.A.

haney may not be on every cover of every magazine, but check out anything on unbelievable back development and youll find his name in there somewhere.

I met Haney in Cla. when I was still in the service...A very nice guy, down to earth...How someone can say he is not one of, if not the greatest(* Mr. O's) is beyond me...He never got the true spotlight he deserved, but the guy was huge before it really took off....

Sergio was a big guy, great arms, but back in the day BB's are no where close to todays freak-O-zoids onsatge....

Frank Zane won the Mr. O his first time shredded at a huge 185lbs. lightest guy to ever win....he couldn't even walk on stage in todays meat market....

This is all just my opinion though....
