Ok here is the situation:
A few friends that just moved to my area wanted to sample the night life so being a cool friend as i am i volunteered to take them all downtown and be the dd for the night. So we go out have fun run into my girl whom i adore...anyways sorry...start driving home. So i get to a stop light right before you enter the state university i and my friends attend. They live on campus but i do not. So the arrow was red, but the straight way was green, i ran the red arrow which i wasn't paying attention to in the middle of ghost town and then a university cop pulls me over and writes a ticket for an off campus offense. First of all he gave me a breathalizer when i hadn't been drinking because i was driving all these drunk friends, then i ask him some questions and he handed me the ticket for not obeying a traffic control device and drives away. Second of all wouldn't you think the cocksucker would let me go because i am responsible and driving the drunk people? Well anyways does this little faggot whom i really wanted to throw through the fucking window have any right to write a ticket for an off campus offense??

You committed a moving violation. How were you wronged in that situation?

Dude, you broke the law, so he has every right to write you a ticket. Although it is a pretty lame ass thing to do, he is in the right. I think that you could get it thrown out of court, since you were the designated driver. You could argue that your drunk friends were acting like jackasses, and you were just tyring to get them home as soon as possible. Either way, sorry to hear that you have to put up w/ this. Look on the bright side... you got to pass a breathalizer!

Also, I just reread the part about this guy being a University officer. You will need to find out where his juristiction ends, in relation to where you were pulled.

University police can give you tickets anywhere in the proximity of the school. That is why at fratenity parties they show up and ticket people with MIP. They are there to protect the students and the surrounding area of the school, which is where many of the students live. Sorry Bro, but you are fucked.

I can understand that.... safety = necessity. I just wonder how this is going to be enforced. This was a traffic violation, not anything dealing w/ the school. Is the University officer going to show up in court? If so, are they like the regular police in that type of a community {school proximity}? For some reason, I find this interesting.

First of all NEVER EVER TAKE ANY KIND OF TEST WITH OUT A LAWYER PRESENT. Second, you blew it by running the light period. Now just pay the damn ticket, it's only money buddy. Get over it. Of course you could have just out run him, or better yet pop a cap on his ass..J/K J/K J/K...

Thanks for the replies guys but what i wanted to know is where does his jurisdiction end? Obviously i ran the red light i know that. Grow up bababooey? What are you three?

I attended Colorado State University and the Campus Cops there had jurisdiction wherever they needed it in the state of Colorado. Of course they weren't responsible for policing anything but campus, but their authority reached as far as they needed it to.

DUI's and Traffic Violations are a mere scheme to take money from the public. I hate that shit too. (yeah, yeah, yeah, I know drunks kill a lot of people in driving related accidents, but having your life turned upside down over 1.0% BAC is rediculous. I think the legal limit should be 1.5%)

Especially when its a long boring night when the cops know people are out drinking being stupid - perfect opportunity to write tickets. Tickets = revenue - and everyone wants revenue. So consider it your donation to the school's funds to improve whatever :D

The good news is that at least if you don't go to that school they can't hold your grades for non-payment of the ticket. If you do go to the school make sure you do pay - else you can't graduate. That would suck.

bro, just take the ticket and get over it. besides if the cops was a dick im sure he couldda gotten you for something other than running the light.

btw, what the hell is wrong with you people??!!! DUI, a money making ploy? are you freakin' retarded?! have you ever been driving and seen a intoxicated person driving in front of you? i definately have. i do alot of crazy shit, but i can honestly say that i've never driven drunk. There's no reason for it. call a cab, ride a bike or something...people get into enough accidents sober, nevermind drunk.

I have seen plenty of people driving after three-four drinks just fine and get pulled over and have their life all fucked up for it. They were perfectly competent behind the wheel. Some fucking retarded mad mother or a mormon made it law to cuff and stuff someone for this. Like I said earlier...driving obliterated is an inexcusable offense, but getting jerked around for just a few drinks is a whole other story.

was this post so important that you had to ask the lawyers on the board to waste their time reading this crap? I expected something much more interesting, like a drug bust or a battery

Rizzo that's no excuse...they know if they get pulled over it doesn't matter if they are sober...the law is the law and when you disreguard it you deserve the punishment. an for your information driving with a BAS anywhere over the legal limit is a punishable offense. And law makers have to make a standard. while a few drinks might not make you drunk, it may make another person. they can't personalize laws to deal with specific people. that's the law...deal with it.

You have to question authority to keep it in check bud. Just because something is law does not make it just and moral. English Kings used to behead their wives because they bore baby girls. This was accepted as law at the time. Don't be a mindless lamb on your way to the slaughterhouse....

you're comparing apples and oranges...why is drunk driving ok? you sound so ignorant. some day someone you will know will be affected by a drunk driver, then maybe you will change your view. besides drunk driver also puts themselves at risk...there is no need for it.

well considering i wasn't drunk when i was pulled over nor did i have anything to drink and the mere reason for this post was trying to find a way out of it i have no idea why you guys are arguing over drunk driving. But ah yes i found a discrepancy in the ticket i'm home free. He put the wrong zip code in my ticket so i'm off the hook...thanks anyways guys.
