laser treatment for acne

New member
im on 100 mg a day of accutane and on my 5th month.

it isnt working :worried:

was wondering if anyone has any experience with laser treatments
for acne and acne discolaration (red marks under skin)

i know there are various types of laser treatment..

Ya bro, that's what finally cured my acne. I did accutane 3 times, and it worked less each time with more sides. Lasers don't work on all skin types. What color is your skin. They also have this thing called levulan/IPL, which is a photo-pulse that works like a laser, and can be used on all skin types. With me, both the laser and the IPL took about a month or so to kick in just like accutane. They also heal depressed scars and red marks better than accutane. Accutane shuts down sebacious oil glands, antibiotics kill bacteria, laser and photo do both. Call around til you can get a decent deal. Some skin centers have acne packages that might be combined with chemical peels or microdermabrasion. Definitely worth it bro!

5th month of 100mg of accutane? wtf? accutane cured all my acne after 4 months at 80mg. accutane is weird shit. after I quit it, my skin took about another 4-5 months and then it was sparkly clean after that.

If you have severe acne, and accutane is not working, the laser might take longer to work, but it will eventually. No internal sides either.

accutanes sides are overated. 4 months @ 80mg a day and my liver values were in the normal range the entire time with NO liver supps.

my cholesterol suffered a bit though.

Same thing here. Worst part was the dry lips/nose.

Also, a couple years later I'm still a chapstick addict and won't leave home without a tube.

It also does things to your bones, makes your hair fall out, screws up your vision; not to mention that cracked lips, burning eyes, and chaffed skin. Try taking it 3 times and see how it feels. This guy is on 100mg a day!

well it isnt worth it imo...bunch of bs and it is $$$ .. also it scared the fuck out my chest too  and if you want to get it, u need to wait 6 months until you are done with accutane anyways ....

here is what I reccomend.
1. finish the 6 months of accutane *dont pick or pop any zits) see how you then...some ppl see all the results in the last month or even shortlty after the finish
2. try rentin A mirco for minor acne scars and will help for redness
3. take flaxseed oil and 50 mg of zinc for your skin (zinc shown to be as effective as antibiotics in some studies)
4. with the red marks, your just going to have to wait :( (cant do any abrasion right after tane since accutane may cause ur skin to scar even worse)
5. some ppl just need a second course of accutane (sucks but it happens in alot of ppl) so wait 6-8 weeks and start accutane again

Nothing but dry skin for me, went two 5-month cycles at 80mg.

Right, I forgot you have to wait to do it if you've been on accutane. And a lot of places do charge a fortune. I've managed to get good deals though, at least where it costs no more than accutane. I wish I would of tried it before the accutane cause it worked great for me, and I still have impaired night vision and chapped lips from the accutane I last took 5 years ago.

They are still conducting studies to determine exactly how it affects your bones, but they predict it's not good. Why do you think you have to sign a waiver before you use it? It's so 20 or 30 years from now when our bones are snapping like twigs, and we're blind and bald, we can't sue them! Come on, you've seen the pictures of what it does to babies when pregnant mothers take it. Ok, so maybe (hopefully) it won't be that dramatic 20 or 30 years from now, but it's still nasty shit. Why do you think doctors recommend to use it as a last resort?

I was under the impression the waiver was for protection against the whole suicide thing, as most of the questions they have you answer pertain to mental health.

It's for protection against any and all side effects. And thanks for reminding me that depression is another potential side to add to the list.

Like I mentioned before, it works less each time. I asked my doc when I noticed this and he confirmed it. Must build a tolerance or something.

Skip the laser treatments and Accutane a miss - try PAN-OXYL 10 (Acne Gel) It is amazing and everyone I have advised to use has had excellent results. It contains the acne fighting agent Benzol Pyroxide.
Its cost a mere £5 and basically what it does is peel off the top layer of skin and cleans underneath therefore giving a smooth and fresh appearance to the skin.

Giver it a try and you wont look back - Guarantee

:supercool

Like most people with acne, I'm sure he's already tried over-the-counter BP. This is usually the first thing people try. If his doc has him on accutane, then that means that BP isn't sufficient to treat his acne. I think you're ready laser after you get off the accutane bro.
