lots of people who bb hate themselves. lots of people who don't hate themselves. but, I gotta say, I find a higher occurrence of low self esteem amongst the bbers than the non.
bbing is just one reaction to perceived inadequacies... others turn to drugs, self mutilation, suicide, etc...
bbing is a very constructive and healthy way of dealing with self esteem / confidence issues.
when i started working out a little over a year ago, my self esteem was very low, since then, i can tell you i've never been sad a single day since, not even for 5 minutes, as well, i haven't had a cold or gotten sick in all that time, and of course, im completely confident in myself, i know im a good person, and i just have to keep doing what ive been doing, if someone doesnt like what im doing, that person is just a dumbass, and i dont really care what they have to say anyway, if someone has a problem with a completely nice and happy person, it really goes to show what kind of person they are...so incidentally, bodybuilding has helped me a lot. i think everyone should hit the gym, and i don't care what they look like, if they're hitting the gym, they're already a winner.

I also think there is a high correlation between low self-esteem and internet chat boards, which makes the denizens of elite likely head cases...
the logic here makes sense, but im sure if it is the case or not on the average...it's not the case with me, but i've seen it with some people. could be in the same way watching tv or sleeping all the time is correlated to low self esteem. but im not sure how comparable chat boards are to those types of things?
even if a lot of bbers are sad, they couldnt really pick a better way to deal with it then through bettering themselves physically and mentally by exercise.
honestly, are there much better ways than that?
exercise is probably the greatest anti depressant ever.
