i personally don't see the motivation to make bbing your lifestyle, as some hardcore bbers do. But some of us just get off on looking different from everyone else.

Besides, i love myself. I just hate everyone else, which is why i try not to look like them by weightlifiting.

True, but don't mistake coincidence for cause. A lot of people who bodybuild necessarily have low self-esteem, but a lot of people who have low self-esteem do NOT necessarily bodybuild. My reason is certainly not due to low self-esteem.

You're the sorry fuck who came all the way on here just to say that LOL....everyone has "issues," worry about your own, which appear to be plentiful....now where was I..? Oh yes, I was sodomizing your wife while she begs me to flex for her in the mirror before I shove my cock down her throat. Bling bling, hear her ring!

bbing is just one reaction to perceived inadequacies... others turn to drugs, self mutilation, suicide, etc...

bbing is a very constructive and healthy way of dealing with self esteem / confidence issues.

when i started working out a little over a year ago, my self esteem was very low, since then, i can tell you i've never been sad a single day since, not even for 5 minutes, as well, i haven't had a cold or gotten sick in all that time, and of course, im completely confident in myself, i know im a good person, and i just have to keep doing what ive been doing, if someone doesnt like what im doing, that person is just a dumbass, and i dont really care what they have to say anyway, if someone has a problem with a completely nice and happy person, it really goes to show what kind of person they are...so incidentally, bodybuilding has helped me a lot. i think everyone should hit the gym, and i don't care what they look like, if they're hitting the gym, they're already a winner.

I also think there is a high correlation between low self-esteem and internet chat boards, which makes the denizens of elite likely head cases...

the logic here makes sense, but im sure if it is the case or not on the average...it's not the case with me, but i've seen it with some people. could be in the same way watching tv or sleeping all the time is correlated to low self esteem. but im not sure how comparable chat boards are to those types of things?

even if a lot of bbers are sad, they couldnt really pick a better way to deal with it then through bettering themselves physically and mentally by exercise.

honestly, are there much better ways than that?:)

exercise is probably the greatest anti depressant ever.

Bison Brawler, i used the link in ur profile.
It leads to some discussion board about flaming. Is that a kind of hobby of yours?
If so, i think BB is a better way to increase self esteem than yours.
Have fun with it though, cause every1 needs something in his life, even if it´s totally pitiful.

I think self esteem is bullshit. Gang members exhibit the highest "self esteem." Is that a personality to be sought after and admired?

Constructive people seek to improve themselves. Looking good is a highly rewarded endeavor in our society. Not everyone can look good no matter how hard they work at it. So they may seek wealth or power instead. Not everyone can achieve wealth or power. So they may seek to look good.

I approve of any form of self improvement. Consider the options of being fat, lazy, and knowing the TV schedule by memory. Or being a walking dictionary on recreational drugs. Or being a walking STD. No thank you.

bbing, if not taken to an extreme, is a good way to deal with these feelings... but just because you deal with things in a reasonable way doesn't mean they don't exist...

I also think there is a high correlation between low self-esteem and internet chat boards, which makes the denizens of elite likely head cases...

Puc, you're always so negative about the people on this board and bodybuilders in general...I know you personally have "many issues" and frustrations as you've mentioned repeatedly on here...that is fine, there is nothing wrong there....but I don't think you should assume that others have thos traits simply because you do.... Honestly, any intelligent, rational person will have self esteem 'issues.' I personally am aware of my faults and I work to correct them...I find little wrong with that.

I will tell you that since I HAVE started bodybuilding, I have never been more confidnent, clearer headed, or happy. It is a foundation to build your life upon, and in general is very positive...
