l-tryptophan sides?

any sides to consider with this product?

does it induce stage 3 or 4 sleep?
how much is needed per sleep?
 
#1 - Yes, it makes you sleepy.

#2 - Yes, it helps one to reach deep sleep.

#3 - None is needed. (If your asking how much it takes (in supplemental form) to make you sleepy, not much.)
 
5-HTP is the hydroxylated version of l-tryptophan. It crosses the blood-brain barrier much more efficiently and is a step closer to serotonin than l-tryptophan. You would get pretty much the same effect from a much lower dosage of 5-HTP unless l-tryptophan goes through some other enzymatic conversion to another neurotransmitter other than just serotonin also.
 
E2 once had an awesome post on l-trytophan. He recommended taking 5-10 grams right before bed. He just mixed it with water and drank it. He reported increased fat loss and increased muscle because of the increased HGH? I think that was his point, that the extra serotonin increases HGH. I could be wrong because I haven't read it over 2 years, and in that case that I am wrong flame away, but I think I am right.

I'm still curious about mixing the 5-HTP with GHB. Could I take less G if taken with the 5-HTP. I take the G for sleep and the dosages are slowly creeping up.
