knee crackling sounds when squatting

TomoUK

New member
when i squat my left knee makes a kind of loose crackling sound (not the type of noise you get when you crack your fingers). ive studied starting strength obsessively and am 99% sure its not a form problem, was wondering if anyone else experiences this, its not painful but it is rather off putting. Im reluctant to ask a physio incase they blame below parallel squatting!!

thanks, tom

Don't know if it's a form problem, may be a wear and tear problem. Welcome to Arthritis dude, Art will be your guide and tell you to drink more water and use more ice....

He's only 24 though. My knees crack in leg presses and squats and my ankles crack while doing calves. No pain caused for me. I can hear my knees make a churning noise when I squat down.

How old are you, after wrestling and football in high school, college football and the Army all before 23 I had a lot of crackling.

It's dependant on the person and the wear and tear IMO...

I'm 20. But see it doesn't hurt. When I train calves, I think it's the ligaments cracking. My knees make a churning sound when I squat, meaning when I squat to pick something up, I can hear my knees make a noise, and I feel pressure in the very center of my knee. Weightlifting is the only physically demanding sport I played. Soccer too but I stopped at 16.

His doesn't hurt and neither did mine but arthritis is, as I recall, a lack of fluid in the joints. Mine never hurt until I went under the knife to attempt to repair some stuff, now it does all the time. I would imagine I had arthritis for a long time, just something you get used to.
