kitchen renovation: one thing leads to another

ok..so my brother gives me the awesome old 1952 fridgidaire electric stove from the house i sold him 2 years ago...a huge, solid, HEAVY (42 inch wide) porclein monster, double oven, recessed soup pot, time bake option, everything still works....

my current kitchen is an early 80's set up...built in gas cook top and double wall oven.

first off...no 220 volt line...had to run one from the circuit breaker box, under the house, all the way to the back of the house where the kitchen is.

second//chop out the gas cook top and wood cabinet to make room for the new/old stove. uh oh...still not wide enough for the monster..

next..move the dishwasher to make room for the 42 inch wide stove.

replace wall oven (not needed thanks to new/old stove/oven) with dishwasher.

replace dishwasher drain hose as it is not long enough now.

ditto for dishwasher hot water line.

run 110 volts to new dishwasher wall as there is no outlet close by.

piece together a cabinet above the new dishwasher location with pieces from below old gas cook top cabinet.

consider new kitchen counter tops as there is now just plywood above the new dishwasher (where the old double wall oven was)

all this for a freebie old stove.....

swearin' to gaud...sometimes i am my own worst enemy.

I decided to re-paint my kitchen a while back...after the new floor (not done yet), countertops, sink, cabinet hardware, and light fixtures, the job cost me close to 5K.

...and I was just gonna paint it.

Anyone who owns a house can relate to this money pit experience.

I bet the new stove will looooook awesome! It'll be worth it once it's done.

Also...Have you seen what they are asking for the 40/ 50's replica stoves and fridges?Damn, they cost around 5 grand APIECE!

I'm going thru that right now. Just bought a new house and everything is new anyhow..but not my style. The builder went crazy with white paint, white everything...

yes, another reason i dragged that heavy monsta over to the new money pit.

can't BELIEVE the buyer didn't want the stove or my maytag neptune washer and dryer...stoooopid woman...my gain... :artist:

gotta go to Lowes (blows) AGAIN for one more thing.....

here is a tip, never buy a house with a sunroom having 120 12x8 little windows...painting sucks

2 words: "painting contractor" oh, and "window cleaner", so 4 words :)
