Kinesiology.....

How many majors are out there in Kinesiology? I was thinking of getting my degree in this (still in school) I love reading about training, eating, anything that has to do with fitness and health all the time. So I thought why wouldnt I want to do something that I love ...currently im a Law major (im 27 by the way)...and love the law too, but i find it that i will read anything relating to health more then i would pick up a law book or magazine..that being said...what are the job "opportunities" in this field? Pay? I have a friend that is a major and he works in a supplement store and is a personal trainer...not really what i had in mind in terms of a future....anyway..let me know your thoughts...

Dont, you should say in law. Every I know that has a kine... deg. does not make any money or do not work in the field. But that is only my view, maybe others will have a better insite.

i'd say stay in law too. i was considering kin, but had the marks/mind for health sciences so went with that. you can always back out to kin, but things like law and meds you can't "back" into. it's competitive enough.

anyone and everyone has a kin degree. even the quarter squatters.

What do you hope to do when you graduate?

Well, to be a strength coach or a PT you really don't need it......With Kines you can pursue a career as an athletic trainer, asst. trainers at a decent sized school probably earn roughly 40 grand, the head trainers can earn double that......What you can do though is get a Master's or Doctorate and teach at a college/university, or do research at a college/university, and that would allow you to earn a very good living. It also gives you the credibility to publish or write.

Phys Ed is a good route if you want to teach or coach high school athletes, I'd suggest a double major in education or finish the PE/Health degree then get a Master's in education OR some counseling field and you can be a guidance counselor if teaching isn't your passion (they make more money than teachers, deal with less BS, and you can coach sports just as easily at the school).

If you have a strong science background and the grades you can major in Kin and then look into Chiro school or if you have really good grades and are solid in math, you can think about the MCATS.

Law is a great field though, I am headed to law school in the Fall.

Either way, do what you really enjoy, because there are avenues you can pursue that lead to money eventually.

Corporate law or something behind-the-scence.....I like the law a lot, I just don't want to put on court room performances, lol.

Im gettin a KINE major, and gettin my masters in physical therapy. Alot of money in that, aslong as people get older always jobs in physical therapy
