yes, for 10 hours. Then they'd better have sony online otherwise the fun is over. A 10 hour campaign? really? I thought the one thing the ps3 would be good for is long ass games because of the blue ray. Since I see no graphical improvements over the 360, I just assumed this was a long in depth game and that was why it was getting all this press. But after 10 hours it's just another online multiplayer..............running around and shooting, and shooting..........and shooting some more. I'm tired of these kinds of games.

What were you expecting, it's a shooter lol. Any shooter over 10 hours is going to get old, at least as far as the campaign is concerned. Multiplayer is there to make up for it. Anyways all Blu Ray does is put more data on a disc, allowing for more code for many things including but certainly not limited to game length. Although in the case of say, MGS4, you get a 10-15 hour game and a 9 hour movie in uncompressed 7.1 surround sound. So there can be length, but overall game length is over rated anyways. Good replay value trumps it almost any day of the week, unless we're talking about an rpg. I'd personally rather have a 10 hour game that looks and plays like a kick ass action movie than a 20 hour game that looks and plays like still-life by comparison. I think what this game has going for it is presentation. Animation, physics, hit response, lighting, particle effects, sound design, hasn't been done all in one game to this level yet.
But yeah at its core it's still only a shooter.

I'm personally looking forward to FEAR 2 moreso than this. PC demo was tight as hell, albeit a bit buggy. Retail version will be patched from the get go though.

I like the stories in the shooters. Yes, I know. I get disappointed alot. But the run and gun shooters were good in the Doom 1 days or the Quake days. Nowadays, I'd like a little more. That's why I LOVED MGS4 and HL2.

the first deus ex and the half life games are still not just my favorite shooters, but my favorite games overall. I did like the halo series namely because it had a good story backdrop, but in game it still wasn't terribly in depth. I like "cerebral" shooters, which there are hardly any of, I know that. I'm hoping that changes. 10 hours is like two or three days of playing. I played far cry 2 for a couple days straight on christmas break, and played for alot of hours each day. I think in the end I was still somewhere under 30% finished.......so there was ALOT more game left even though that game too got kind of repetive. Today's shooters just keep challenging your motor skills, and after awhile you just sort of go into autopilot.........I want to think, to be engaged in a game. For there to be more than one way to go about doing things, for there to be challenging "puzzle like" situations for me to solve in a realistic manner. Stuff like that is what I want. If you do that you can turn what would normally be a 10 hour campaign into something more substantial.

Yeah HL 2 refined what the original invented into a perfect blend of story telling and gameplay within a shooter. Am heavily anticipating Episode 3, but admit the series is showing its age. Hopefully they add just enough fresh content/improvements to cap off an excellent trilogy, and then use something like Source 2 for the next full sequel.

MGS4 was the slickest game-no, make that piece of entertainment- I've played since Final Fantasy 7, only with much better gameplay. I was on my 5th playthrough before I felt a hint of boredom. And even then there was so much left to see and do. Act 4 ='s most pure gaming nostalgia.

I hear ya. Half Life 2 was ahead of its time in ways, and introduced some impressive tech that melded perfectly with intelligent gameplay. Far Cry 2 was far too much like GTAIV in its loooong fetch quests and repetition, and could've benefited from a tighter campaign. The open world freedom didn't mesh as well as it could have with the actual game design.
As far as Killzone 2 is concerned, yeah it doesn't do much new other than perhaps the cover system, but it just looks like a blast to play through. Visceral would be a key word. It's been described by some game journalists as a "no-blink" game, because there are so many details for your eyes/ears to process.
Maybe some aren't PS3 fans, but practically anyone who's actually bothered to play it are walking away impressed in one way or another.

Why do they still make FPS's for consoles??? I thought everyone moved over to the PC and mouse for that.

I started PC gaming again pretty hardcore for the last year or so, and went to play Resistance 2 on PS3 back in November. Man lemme tell you, going from kb/mouse to analog sticks is like going from performing mad brain surgery to being the victim of it.

I wish they came out with some kind mouse/control board combo for consoles. Lot's of fanboys would bitch until they started getting pwned by the guys running mouse's.....then they'd shut up.
