Why trade a great point guard for a very good point guard? You just downgraded the frikking position on the team. Idiots.

I'm done with the Nets. They blow. Is there any vacancy on the Suns bandwagon?

Hell, the only reason I started following those crummy fools was because Marbury. Now this. That's just plain stupid. It's like trading Iverson for Marbury. It just doesn't make any sense.

You're absolutely nuts if you think Marbury is better than Jason Kidd. Nuts. Marbury gets by partially because of the weakness of the Eastern Conference.

Jason Kidd is the best point guard in the game by far right now. The second best is DUKE'S Jason Williams, (not Sacramento's) and he didn't come out.

The Griffin trade is a tought thing to swallow, but they just drafted Kenyon Martin last year and one of them had to go. I would have kept Griffin, but Marbury....good riddance.

there seems to be a shortage of nasty point guards in the NBA..its all slashers and wing players...

I cant agree with you. As a rookie in the Western Conference Marbury averaged more PPG than Kidd ever has. He keeps getting better.

The one less assist a game that Marbury averages isn't a big deal either. Marbury has the ability to lead a team the way Iverson leads a team and Kidd doesn't.

The Nets can't afford to throw away 15 PPG. Kidd is very good, I will admit that. However Steph's just a year older than Kobe and is a player who gets better every year. He's more of an asset to this franchise than a guy who will score 13 points and dish out 8 assists per game.

On paper the Nets just traded 24PPG/7APG for 15PPG/9APG. I don't see where that's beneficial, unless they think Martin will be scoring 35 a game for them next year.

I will get ridiculed for this now but not in 5 years: I would rather have Williams from Duke than Iverson on my team. What Iverson did at Georgetown was impressive, but the Big East then was no ACC. It hasn't been as good as the ACC since the mid 1980s.

Williams is a better shooter than Iverson - he is a pure shooter whereas Iverson is streaky. Iverson has plenty of games where he is not hot and shoots 11-34. A 17-31 every fourth night will occur, but Williams is now (and will be in the NBA) the mark of consistency.

The differential in points can be attributed largely to the weaker conference. I like Kidd because it is clear that he makes the people around him better. I guess time will tell.

The Nets have once again broken my heart

24 hours ago I thought they would start Marbury at PG, Martin at SF, Griffin at PF, and trade Mr. Softie(Van Horn) for either a 2-guard or a C. Now who knows what direction they are going in.

Being a Celtics fan as well, what the hell were they thinking yesterday? Who's playing point next year, Walker?

True the eastern conference is weaker, but marbury was in the western conference just a couple years ago, and he was scoring more then kidd then, at a much more immature stage. Personally, i dont like Marbury, but i think he is quite impressive. Kidd right now is probably the best POINT guard. Marbury i think might be a better talent and player or asset to a team, especially the nets. He can carry a team down the stretch, which kidd cannot. Kidd is great, but they are two contrasting players. I dont see why the suns traded Kidd by the way. He made their team go. He is why they were worth anything.

Duke's Jason Williams, not Sacramento's. His fundamentals are already better than Iverson. Once he is cvhallenged by the NBA he will rise toi the top of that just like he has in college. Anyway as I said in my post above, I expect to her shit about it now....in 5 years we'll talk.

hey thermo: that trade was the best thing bulls have done since jordan left their asses. Elton Brand ain't all that great man. he averaged 20pts/10rebs on a sorryyyyyyyyyyyy ass team. he got the ball every time he wanted it, yet he only managed to score 20ish points a game and grab down 10 boards? he was the only guy who ever took any shots on that team. He's a "good" player, but not someone you can build a team around. and trust me, that tyson chandler guy is gonna tear it up in the NBA. he's got a great built, and he's stilll got a lot of growing up to do, physically and mentally. the people who picked up NO.2 overall aren't dumb man, they probably watched him play every single game. but who knows anyone can be a bust comin out of the draft. but I think bulls made a good move, they cleared some cap room so they can get some experience on that team to lead these young players. now only if they can get rid of that sorry ass mercer. he's a fucking discrase to bulls basketball.

Has anyone heard anything about Kidd staying past this year? Half way through the season he sounded like he wanted to play in a nicer (warmer for the Cali boy) area. If he did leave the only team I wouldn't mind seeing him play for would be Sacramento.

Randy does NOT face a pitcher 4 to 5 times a game......at best he will face a pitcher 3 maybeeeee 4 times. Pedro maintains a lower ERA yes but also look at innings pitched.
Let's look at the last three yrs.

'99 Pedro's ERA 2.07 IP = 213
Randy's ERA = 2.48 IP = 271. 58 more innings or 6+ complete games and thats in the NL where pitchers are not as likely to work deeper into the games.
'00 Pedro ERA = 1.74 IP= 217
Randy's ERA = 2.64 IP = 248 Not as big a diff but still it equals 3 games
'01 Pedro's ERA 2.39 IP = 116 He was hurt of course.
Randy's ERA = 2.49 IP = 249.

Interesting stats for you........ How many K's they have in relationship to the batting order in the last three yrs:
