i started keto one week ago...i wasn't sure which type of keto to do, so i decided to start by just eliminating carbs from my diet (maybe 10-20g a day plus 25g in pw shake). i noticed a good amount of weight loss in the first week (i'm already slim, just looking to get rid of the last layer to hopefully get a six pack for summer). anyway, every time i've tried to work out in the past 3 days, whether it is cardio or lifting, i get a bad headache. it forced me to stop working out the first two times. i was able to fight through it today, though working out at lower intensity. what is the problem?

i'm thinking of trying tkd, and i even tried eating two slices of whole wheat bread before my workout today to get some pre-w carbs in me, but i still got a headache (doing chins). what do you guys suggest, what am i doing wrong and how can i fix this? i'm very excited about keto because it has worked in such a brief period of time, and i don't have that much weight to lose. however it is very frustrating when i get very psyched for a workout and then have to quit after five minutes because of a bad headache. thanks a lot, i appreciate any and all help

You may want to try the CKD diet or a version of it. This allows your to reload once a week and get yourself back on track.

Read my post on Keto made simple

As for the headaches, this happens for the first couple of weeks. You are probably getting light headed, having night cravings for carbs (mainly sugar) and having trouble concentrating too. This is a common thing in the early phases of the diet. It takes a couple of weeks for your body to make the metabolic shift to burning fat as a fuel source. Once your body does this you will feel a lot better and the cravings will go away. It usually takes me something like 18 or 19 days before I start to feel straight.

Hope this helps,

If you're going to do a keto diet, it needs to be done by the book.
Check out Mr.X's CKD or TKD diet sticky's.
Just came off an 11 week CKD myself. It worked wonders.

I might suggest the TKD......I also find caffeine helps me with headaches a lot....and will give you a little more pep for your workout.....so I would usually pop an ECA or 2 before my workout.

and, make sure you are drinking plenty of water.

also, that 25g of carbs post workout is keeping you out of ketosis longer.
