Keto Conundrum

How can you build muscle on a ketogenic diet with such low carb intake? Don't you need more carbs to get the protein or amino acids into the muscles? Someone please explain!

Ive spent quite some time on a keto diet and it has worked wonders for me. The main reason is because it took me down to 7.1 percent body fat (so the Bod Pod says). Cant really say I lost any muscle but if I have I cant tell because my skin seems to have vacuum wrapped around me. but your question is building muscle on keto diet. Well you can but def. not the easiest way. Your body will make non dietary carbs from gluconeogenesis. Which is a fancy word for saying your liver will make carbs form protein. It sounds bad but its perfectly natural man has been doing it for thousands of years and its not at all catabolic. With that said here is a nice article that shows if PWO carbs are necessary. This site is kind cool its for the low carb bodybuilder

You can build muscle just fine on proteins/fats...Carbs are not necessary. You could also look into a TKD (targeted ketogenic diet)
