KCD, calories.... and sausages.

I'm on a modified KCD diet at the moment. It's very loose.... a typical day might go as follows:

6 egg whites and 2 yolks, scrambled (I might have this 3-7 times a day)
Grilled steak or chicken (though mostly steak nowadays)

And that's about it. Sounds weird, I know.... eggs are my main food, with some steak most days.

I have about 30g of carbs post-workout, in the form of some 2-minute rice.... and aside from what's in the eggs, that's all the carbs I get. However, that's still usually up to or including 40g of carbs a day.... which is quite high for a keto/KCD diet.... so I try to keep the fat level down, really only getting fat from egg yolks.

It's worked quite well thus far.... with cardio, I've lost a lot of fat and haven't lost any muscle. If anything, I feel like I've gained muscle. I'm happy with the results anyway. While I can usually only get 1g/lb of protein.... my total calories are generally well below my maintainance recommendation, PLUS I do a bit of cardio a few times a week.

Except throughout it.... one thing I haven't been able to say no to, is sausages.... fuck, I love them. Especially these hot chilli sausages. I prick them with a knife and grill them so a lot of fat drains out but they're still quite fatty AND while they don't have a proper nutrition chart, the ingredients say "Beef, rice, salt, water" etc.... it's the rice that I'm worried about. Others don't say rice, they just say "cereals" or "maize starch"....

.... does anyone know how much carbs is in your typical cheapo non-fancy supermarket sausage? Do you think they're really as bad as my instincts are telling me? Maybe it's wishful thinking and I just want someone to say "Nah, go right ahead and eat as many as you like!!"

One other question.... even if I have higher-than-recommended carbs, if my total calories are lower than my maintainance plus what I burn with cardio.... then I should still be losing fat, right?

Seems to me that you are doing a variation of a TKD diet, looking at the post-workout carbs.

I would say on average the sausages can contain anywhere from 5 carbs to 20 carbs per serving. DEPENDING on the type of sausage, you really must read packaging that comes w/it.

If you were doing straight Ketosis w/ no carbs then I could tell you to enjoy the sausages, but in your case you need to limit the intake.
