BUt i do love the smell of dirt on a warm summer night around dark when you are just finishing up digging some fresh potatoes out of the ground that dirt smells so nice and fresh

Certain dirt smells better than others, I do know the scent you speak of and concur.

I love the smell of water on hot pavement, but I'm polish and we use the hose to clean our driveways

Those chiggers sound nasty. My in-laws have similar horror stories from when they were kids. The worst we ever got was one of my cousins loved to eat earth-worms. He'd go out and dig for them. My mom used to go crazy at him.

chiggers live on ragweed i think and when i was a kid we would run thru high weeds and stuff
they like to get places like your crotch and under your arms. they are teeny tiny red bugs

In Colombia they have larvae that get under the skin. Rather than go to the doctor to treat them, they'd slap a dab of nail varnish over the hole. The larva would come out looking for air and they'd grab it with tweezers.

Anyway, this is getting too gross now.

my grandmother always says putting a little clear fingernail polish on a mosquito bite or some bite always makes it better
i never did that cuz i was like wtf? woudlnt it get in ur blood and poison you?

Germoline now market it as a product. I think they call it "New Skin" or something like that. It's just clear nail polish and makes a protective barrier over the cut or bite. It stings worse than the sting though.
