buddy, what if the outer frame support was tied together in another manner besides the floor trusses(which proved to be disasterous). in order to avoid that buckleling effect. it seems to me that the major cause were the trusses. did it say anything regarding that? i walked in on the show 10 minutes late.
Sponge. Good question man. I really dont know. im not an engineer, i just regurgatated as best i could the contents of the show.
From what I understood, its probable structural designers couldve included support beams connecting the internal frame and the external frame together, sorta like a supersupport for the truss, like u mentioned. But, I think the contractors of the WTC were in a *rush* to put up the towers, and as per usual, wanted to minimize construction costs. Truss's were prefabricated prior to WTC superstructure construction and just inserted in big peices when needed. If they had included support beams redistribting forces between the external and internal frame, it wouldve taken significantly longer to create the towers.
The cheif contractor said they had fixed costs of 1million USD a day.
So the minimum internal load distribution beams were introduced, the truss's, and that was about it.
Amazing. Everytime i see the twin towers fall, it reminds me of what a momunmentus day that was. 4 planes highjacked. One hitting the pentagon. Serious stuff.
