I wanted to get a medical opinion, so I asked my doctor about it. He didn't seem to have any experience in the field. He instantly cited permanent sterility as a concern (allegedly due to testicular atrophy). Does anyone know how often this happens and what drugs are responsible?

very much so true....

mainly due to test (any of its esters)...you have to use the proper stuff after cycles (clomid, HCG....) but a more concerning aspect is the issue of oligosperm problems (spelling)......it basically acts like a birth control device...in some people it CAN be permanent especially with long term use.

Testosterone do not act as birth control pills
but at least it can be used for treating infertility in cases of unmatured sperms

but after prolonged usage of Testosterone, it sends negative feedback to the hypothalamus to the pituitary to reduce the production of FSH (Follicle-stimulating hormone which binds to Sertoli cell results in the initiation of the spermatogenesis process which regulates the production of sperms)

You are going to be shooting blanks during most cycles and for awhile afterward but you are going to return to
normal sperm counts after you go off the juice. It depends on what you were on and for how long as well
as your age. Other factors include what you use post cycle clomid etc. These are all factors as to how long it is going to take to return to normal. Most Docs are clueless and a pain the ass to talk to when it comes to steroids. I haven't seen any published studies or real
world data suported by research that there are cases of
permanent testicular shutdown in healthy males using anabolic steroids. Many doctors cite horror stories and point to research that were done with cortisteroids, they should know the difference.
