Just Got off the Phone with Laredo Customs Officials..

It did not go well. I first asked to speak to a U.S. Customs Official on the phone...when he took the call, I asked him to inform me on the legality of claiming veterinary steriods at the border. As soon as I asked that, he asked me who are they for ( I that point I was scared, I thought they would trace the call). I replied to him that they are for personal use...and immediately he said no and "the law is cut and dry" and it shouldn't be injected into human legs or arms. I asked him if I could claim them for cattle and animals, and he said I would have to check with the FDA. So pretty much, it was "no"..I just hope they don't come knocking on my door. :)

did u honesty think that theywould let u claim VETERINARY steroids for HUMAN use

Personally I didn't believe it...but there have been posts that have stated that you can claim vet gear at the border and go home safe...I just wanted to know if it was legal or just a mess up on the Customs Inspector on the line.

Relax bro, they wont come after you for just a phone call :D
But I dont know about claiming them.
I wouldnt take the risk.

bro, u CAN claim gear at the boarder, not vet gear, it has to be human grade and be a product that is available in the us and is up to the FDA standards of medicine

Thanks Canuck...I sure hope they don't come after me. After all, I just inquired about the legality, thats all...its not like I have gear with me ;)

Nah...after the call I admit I was, but then I realized that I am just inquiring about the law, thats all. All they can do at most is find out who I am, and watch to see if I cross the border and search me if I do cross.

Still, it's never a good idea to inform a government agency of potential illegal activity. Why send up a red flag? It's like calling the IRS and asking what the penalties are for tax evasion. Even if nothing comes of it, you have to be a little smarter than that.

Me and my buddy crossed the tj border a few weeks ago and they gave him shit for bringing prescription strength ibuprofin.

You make a good point Nelson...the flag may be up, but if don't do anything wrong or in my case, cross the border in the near future...then there is nothing to worry about. I don't think the government is going come down on people who are simply inquiring about certain legal aspects.
