Just got a free cell phone - how to switch?

My brother in law just gave me an old Blackberry of his and I want to switch my service over. Is it as simple as just putting my sim card from my old phone into it? I also need to switch service providers anyway so I guess I should just go into the store and take care of it. Any tips?

depends on the phones, and your service provider.

its not as easy as switching sims in most cases.


Take it in to your service provider and they can tell you, worst case is, you'll have to switch service providers to use the new phone.
