just did my first ever deads.. and im upset..

I dont have enough weight! i went to 230. because thats all the weight i have.. i was at 6 reps.. and know i can do more.. but.. i dont have enough weight..

but.. i guess that is pretty good for first time?

man.. i love em too.. it feeels great! now to go buy some more 45's :p

You are going to be sore tomorrow. Nothing like waking up in the morning and feeling your hands swelled up like boxing gloves .:)
 
focus on your form when you first start them and not the weight. 230 isnt a whole lot though, you prob should go out and get a couple 45's.
 
i did my form as close as i good for just seeing B Fold's vids, and you guy's talking.. i did one hand in one hand out (switched out every set), and hands outside of legs, legs slightly bent.. and pulled up.. not fast.. not slow..

any other pointers? im loving deads.. wanna make sure i can keep doing them :p

i always have my hands in a closer than shoulder-width grip. the bar has less distance to travel
 
yay :p.. now i can try to max a bit more..

i just went out and bought 2 45lb disks, and 2 25 pound disks.. and a curl bar.. i think my collection is starting to actually mean something..

thats stupid. makes no sense.
you want your arms to hang as low as possible. logically straight down from where they are attached : shoulder width.
 
B fold thats a great article. nice read. together with the Arioch article on it i must have read like 3 times now its really telling me the stuff i need to know as a rookie

i'm going to pretend you didnt call my way of doing something stupid.

shoulder-width to me is when your hands are on the bar and your index finger lines up to the outside tip of the shoulder.

now, please, for your sake, dont call something stupid when you dont truly understand what somebody is talking about. ask a question and see if they are confused or if they worded something wrong.

i'm sorry for the confusion
 
Had trouble with bis lately. I was overtraining them and didn't know it until I got a new job which involved using my bis a lot. They hurt like a SOB for the 1st couple hours on the job. Take some good advise like I did and make sure you do bis on back day to allow enough recovery.:fro:

btw.. my "gym" is a Bench (with leg extension thingy) curl bar, a barbell, 2 dumbell bars, and about 360-380ish in free weights now.
 
Good work, you will grow everywhere. I wish I had done them years ago..
