hey new guy here sayin hi.

I was wondering if anyone here had any experience or knowledge about those ab machines recently on TV. They are the ones that ger strapped around the waist and send electric impulses to the abs, making them leaner? oes this work?

I would think NO. First off, only dieting and cardio will make you leaner, so even assuming the machine does make the abs grow, you won't see 'em if they are covered in fat. Secondly, I don't see how the impulses can stimulate muscle growth. My reasoning is that the electrical impulses are making the muscles move so the muscles aren't actually working.. muscles not working= no muscle growth.. I may be wrong though.

kevin brings up some good points. You need to do cardio and diet in order to lose inches. Second, by stimulating the muscles with electrical shocks your taking out one of the most important aspects of working out: the mind-body connection. The brain is no longer involved in the stimulation of the muscle just some electrical gadget.
Those things are for lazy people.

I borrowed a buddies for a few days. ( AB Tronic)
It definately gave me a good burn, but like the boyz were saying, I don't think it would benefit you unless you had very minimal fat on your abs to begin with. You're never gonna see those ripped abs if you have an inch of fat covering them up.
