just called to settle my account, :(

Call back and explain the situation about your mom... More than likely they will settle. It was their first offer.. First offers are never the best offer. :)

I would not even pay 50%. They bought the debt for pennies on the dollar so they're trying to get you to pay attorney fees.

:) they settled for 3 thousand after whining and complaining that it wasnt enough. My hair is growing back already and had a great workout

I hope you are paying for delete...

or else you are paying for nothing since the derog account will still be listed on your credit profile and your credit score will still be fucked.

PAY for DELETE, if they say no, then don't pay it.

can't remember, credit is screwed anyway. Something alot of people dont understand is. the worse your credit really is the more people dont turn you down . When i apply for something they are like wow, we need you.

how is that possible?

Screw them, why waste your Mom's money on an account that will further jepordize your Credit rating when you can spend that 3000.00 in the Karma Store.

Umm... wasn't this all because you racked up too much money on your credit cards and couldn't pay them?
yes

credit card companies don't want high credit scores. that means you pay your shit off in time. they want people with lower scores. sister is a book keeper at a bank and hears about it from the loan officer in the next office

...

I really don't agree with the accumulating loans on a credit card then trying to weasel out of it. The mother situation has nothing to do with it. As a grown-up legal adult, one is responsible for the choices they make in life... and no one said they will be easy ones. Choosing to cheat/steal and rationalize it the way he did, as well as not accepting responsibility for his direct actions, is very low class and unprestigious.

Try to get approved from any PRIME card lender(Citibank, AMEX, Bank of America,Chase, MBNA) with a shitty credit score.

Do it. I gurantee it if your score is less then 650, you are not getting approved for shit.

Once again, I dont buy it. Why would a credit card company want to give a credit card to someone with shitty credit?(Talking about prime lenders) It just means the RISK is high and the the likelihood of them NOT getting paid is high.

yeah but i owed just 1000 before they add late fee every month and interest. They dont lose money with me not paying . I paid 3000 so they made 2000 easy. Just like people wander how insurance companies get money. They rip people off.

But you signed a legal, binding contract with those credit cards. I don't know law, but as far as I know, if someone doesn't pay, they can pretty much lock up, repossess, or do whatever they want because it's all in the fine writing. Same with bank, car and house loans.

And I'm sure school loans as well. Fuck.

negative; credit cards are unsecured loans. They can repossess nothing.

Wah fucking wah. My heart cries for you.

YOU signed the contract, YOU made the charges, YOU are responsible. What a cop out ...... "sniff sniff, they are bad evil people, they are trying to screw me ....." YOU made the decision to charge, and now you should take the heat. Oh yeah, nevermind, Mommy bailed you out. Niiiice.

Yes and No.

Why do they give credit cards to irresponsible college students that do not have a credit history?? They know (until the parents get involved) that a college student will spend and spend with no means to pay for it. I knew one girl that was $20,000 in debt before she graduated. Credit card companies make their money off of the late fees and interest rates. I'm not just talking about the no-name companies that want you to put down $500 for a card. MBNA, Capital One, Bank of America, etc. want you to stay in the red. Since I paid off my credit card (and haven't used since) I hear from Capital One every six months (they keep lowering my interest rate). They can careless about me because they are not making any money off of me.

Every "brand name" lending company has a subsidiary to deal with people with bad and low credit scores. When I had bad credit I heard from Citi-Financial (a sub of Citigroup) all the time about loans & high interest rate mortgages. I've been a customer of Citibank since I was 17 and they wouldn't touch me with a 10 foot pole re: credit cards and other forms of lending. That said, now my credit is excellent, score way above 700, and now Citi-Mortgage (the subsidiary for people with good credit) is calling me. My own bank wants to give me credit cards now.

Now that the credit industry has been deregulated (60 Minutes had an excellent show about this), don't be surprise to see 30% interest rates or even higher. The credit card companies are no different than loan sharks. It will probably be cheaper to get a loan from the guy at the back of the bar than a credit card company (in the long run).

That said, you sign a contract to pay it back. Its your responsibility.
