Hey just wanted to say what's up. I've been researching on this board for quite sometime for my own personal knowledge and thought it was time to start to post. I started working out about three years ago. Starting weight was about 118lbs at 5'10. After three years of hard work I got as high as 168lbs at 10% bf. I was extremely happy until i got very sick twice this year, lost about 23 lbs. Currently im 145lbs at 10% bf, basically lost 23 lbs. of muscle. Anyway im looking forward to gaining it back plus a lot more. Looking forward to posting what I have learned and some of my own knowledge that i have learned from personal experiences. Looking forward to starting up madcows 5x5

Eat a lot of food, train as you once did (or use a program that works even better), and get rest. That muscle will come back on fairly quickly. Use the term "muscle memory" if you will. I don't know if it's proven entirely, but anecdotal evidence seems to support the fact that, once the body has achieved a certain level, it can more easily climb back to it. This seems to hold true of most any task.

Welcome to the boards, by the by. Goodluck with Madcow's routine. I'm testing it out now as well.

Yea man it's great. Walk in grab whatever i want and start eating. Summer is the best though, all the burgers and beer you can imagine all for free.

He's right I'm not sure it's proven either but muscle memory is real. As a rugby player I am hurt reasonably often an recovering gains is never all that bad. Good Luck.

I will def keep you guys posted on how fast i can get it back, I am actually still sick right now and havent trained since march 23rd. Im feeling a lot better today so i'll prob take the rest of this week off catch up on some school work and start back up on monday. I will keep u all informed.

2nd day back to lifting after being sick. Lost more strength than i thought but im so excited to be lifting again that it doesnt bother me and i know i'll get it back bc im so pumped and focused.

Welcome to the boards brother!! Yes, it definately comes back much quicker then expected once youve reached a certain level. Because of my injuries it may take me a year to get all my size back, maybe sooner, but thats also because Ill have to train much differently and work my way back up slowly as not to reinjure my spine. Its always good to be back doing some lifting again though.

Thanx guys for all the encouragement, im up 3 lbs already this week from 144 to 147. Have to thank my dad for owning a grocery store for that one, went crazy food shopping. I robbed the place lol jk. Even though i lost so much my body and proportions still look the same just scaled down i bit i guess you could say.
