if your goal is to maintain 5-10% bf all year long while growing solid muscle, this is something you should read:
while cutting, we will inevitably lose some muscle. the intensity and frequency of cardio sessions will obvioulsy be the determining factor in the amount of muscle lost. for those who cut without cardio, then the reduction in caloric intake may cause slight muscle loss. so far so good...
this is why anabolics are a must while cutting. the least they will do is spare muscle. in other words.. be a 'protectant' of muscle so that minimal if any muscle is lost. this will allow the user to maintain muscle and energy levels and focus on fat burning. acutally, with proper training you the user will add some muscle but a reasonable goal is to at least maintain our muscle.
furthermore, the use of thermogenics and fat burners is quite common while cutting. and rightly so.... clenbuterol, t3, ephedrine and dnp put our bodies though more than usual stress which may induce a catabolic state (which we dont want). another reason why anabolics are a must while cutting.
while maintaining or bulking, we will increase lean body mass, and unless we are really precise about our diet we may even gain a little fat too. cardio should be non-existent during such phases. now unless overtraining, it is very unlikely to reach catabolic state. maybe after a workout but not for a very extended time frame...
and this is why i dont see the use of anabolics during maintaining or bulking phases. we will gain muscle slowly but surely and allow our bodies a period of recovery. 'natural training' produces awesome results if your diet and training is in line. the right supplements are critical but eating smart and training hardcore will determine the results.
in conclusion, my recipe for a cut and muscular lean physique has worked for me and, at the least, makes sense. if you try it and succeed send some green my way.
keep in mind that i'm only referring to those who are interested in maintaining single digit fat percentages ALL YEAR LONG!
this obvioulsy doesn't apply to pros, powerlifters, and those who are only interested in strength and mass.
