Jones or Ruiz?

I THINK JONES SHOULD STAY IN THE WEIGHT CLASSES HE HAS BEEN IN. GOING UP TO THE HEAVIES IS A BIG JUMP FOR HIM. IMO HE DOESNT HAVE THE POWER THOSE GUYS HAVE AND HE HAS NVR BEEN HIT LIKE THEY CAN HIT HIM EITHER.

To bad ruiz will never hit him =P. Have you ever seen ruiz fight?? It is nothing impressive let me tell you that much right now. He fought a washed up holyfield lost 1 fight and I thought he lost the last fight, I think ruiz is just another paper champion. Jones however is the greatest pound for pound fighter since Sugar Ray Robinson, he will beat ruiz's ass. I look for the fight to go to a decision with jones outboxing, outmoving, and basically making ruiz look like a slow lumbering jackass. Jones 12 round decision.

EVEN THOUGH I AGREE WITH YOU, I WAS SPEAKING OF THE HEAVYWEIGHT CLASS IN GENERAL. NOT ABOUT RUIZ IN PARTICULAR. NO DOUBT JONES CAN BEAT SOME OF THE GUYS IN H.W. CLASS. HOWEVER, THAT IS THE LOWER END CONTENDERS LIKE RUIZ. I LIKE JONES, I HOPE HE DOES WIN.

I agree with Kayne. I hope he knows what he is getting into.

It seems like at that weight it wont take much to frustrate him.

If he can box like he does in the lower classes at that weight he is on track to go down as one of the greatest of all time.

When is the fight?

Here's another question: I just looked at a boxing betting odds sight and didn't understand the odds sheet.
It said Jones -220
Ruiz +170

Can anyone explain this?

It means jones is the favorite to win the fight. You would have to bet 220dollars on jones to win 100 dollars back and bet 100 dollars on ruiz to win 170 back. I am pretty sure that is how it works out.

As much as I dislike Ruiz, I expect he'll be able to get Jones pushed against the ropes on enough occasions to hurt him. He'll lean on Jones, shove him around & finally KO Jones in a typically ugly Ruiz 'fight'. I figured Johnson would have beaten Ruiz, but did poorly before being DQ'd. That's the fight that should be set up for Tyson (if he fights again) Tyson vs. Ruiz. I think Mike could at least beat Ruiz.

i'm gonna say jones. as long as he can keep it to a boxing match and not a hugging contest it should be a cakewalk. the man is inhumanly fast with uncanny instincts.

I believe that Jones is as smart a fighter I've seen since Ali... He will fight to his strengths, which will utilize the whole ring, his quickness, the old "Float like a Butterfly, Sting like a Bee"..

But Who knows? It will be interesting to see. I will look forward to this more than any fight in a long time...

I have Jones in a decision. Jones is the best fighter on the planet and is probably in over his head. But he has no choice. There is no one to fight in the light heavy division and he is constantly taking heat for that, like it's his fault. Jones is not even a natural light heavy. He is a natural super middleweight. If you notice he knocked out very few in the light heavy division. He loses power (compared to the opponent, not actual loss) every step up. But he is clearly the best fighter in the last 20 years he will outclass Ruiz in an ugly fight. Every fight associated with Ruiz is ugly.

I'm going with Jones. Incredible conditioning, handspeed and a great fighter. Should be able to dance and pepper Ruiz consistently throughout the whole fight. Let's face it, Ruiz is absolutely a pisspoor heavyweight champion.

I agree that Ruiz is a product of a pisspoor heavyweight division. So I will say this and it start like a flame under a slow thread like this: Lewis is also a product of the pisspoor division.

This fight is gonna be fantastic.
Jones, best pound for pounder out there, against a guy who outweighs him by what... 40, 50 lbs?

I can harldy wait to see this. I'm hoping Jones kicks ass but I think Ruiz might take it.

I'd like to think Jones will win. I grew up watching him on ESPN tuesday night fights. He is my favorite boxer for any class. I am also questioning his ability as a heavyweight. Without having a real knock out punch, it will be interesting to see how far he goes.

Jones is sounding cocky as ever. I hope he doesn't do his usual rap entrance b/c he's in with the big boys now. Still trying to decide if we wanna shell out the money for it. Hopefully Jones will win but I'm not certain as I have seen Ruiz fight that often so I don't know his abilities
