John Kerry a flip flopper?

Here's an excerpt from an article on CNN:

Meanwhile, U.S. Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld on Monday conceded that U.S. intelligence was wrong in its conclusions that Iraq had weapons of mass destruction.

"Why the intelligence proved wrong [on weapons of mass destruction], I'm not in a position to say," Rumsfeld said in remarks to the Council on Foreign Relations in New York. "I simply don't know."

When asked about any connection between Saddam and al Qaeda, Rumsfeld said, "To my knowledge, I have not seen any strong, hard evidence that links the two."

But a short time later, Rumsfeld released a statement: "A question I answered today at an appearance before the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) regarding ties between al Qaeda and Iraq regrettably was misunderstood.

"I have acknowledged since September 2002 that there were ties between al Qaeda and Iraq." (Full story)

Rumsfeld is now the King of all Flip Floppers.

While this does come off as flip-flopping, he corrected himself that day saying he misspoke, or misunderstood.

Kerry made no attempt at this. He simply said one thing, then said another down the line and claims to have one position that has never changed.

Having served 6 years in the Marine Corps, and put in time during this conflict in the Middle East, i can honestly say that i'd rather have Bush in charge of this thing. Also of note, when i was over there and MREs were running short, body armour was in short supply and we could have used more supplies Kerry, who voted to send my ass over there, voted against more money for the afore mentioned items. Thanks Hanoi John!

i dont think that would really qualify him as "king" of flip floppers. and i think you should have come up with a better title for the thread. and what coverguy said also.

Uh, no he didn't. He voted to give Bushie $60 billion but he and many others voted against giving him a 'blank check'.

Listen, left or right, there is no sensical argument that can be made that Kerry has ever maintained a consistent poisiton on the issue of Iraq.

What he says now is in complete contradiciton to what he said prior to his nomination, during which time he lambasted his kook opposition for taking the exact same positions he is parroting now.

Kerry f'ed himself, nobody did it to him. He took one position to try and win the nomination, and it was clear then that it would and shoudl come back to haunt him.

Don't blame Bush, blame Dean for forcing his hand.

Ya know, you are right about Kerry's position changing. I hate to admit it, but it's true. He jumped on Dean's antiwar stance. If the Dems had nominated a candidate that never supported the Iraq invasion they could be all over Bush's ass in these debates over the lack of a reason to start a war.
