Job Market

Economists said the unemployment rate, considered a lagging economic indicator, will resume rising in the months ahead. They predicted it would climb as high as 6.5 percent by June, hold steady for a while and then start to fall near the end of this year or at the beginning of 2003 as the economic recovery gains momentum

Current unemployment is at 5.60%

Hey citruside got a JOB I think that counts as a full recovery!

I graduated from school in Dec '00. Job fairs around that time had 250+ companies.

A job fair last month had maybe 40 companies, ~30 of which were government related. (This was according to a friend of mine who went down there to recruit).

Yeah my school is going to have a job fair. And from what I heard we have a whopping 38 companies..And I know one is the IRS....Looks like I'll become a special agent...gimme a gun

We had about 20 at my vo-tech school. A few were post-secondary schools. The rest consisted of mostly union jobs, or jobs not in the field I plan on going into. The construction field is pretty easy to get into however.

I applied to a Home Depot that will be opening soon around my way. Hopefully I'll get that job, and it'll hold me over until I leave in August for the island.
