regarding usb cables, just how long can they be before
it becomes an issue???

and can any other cheaper cable be sustituted by soldiering it in between usb leads???

i need to hook some hidden digital cams to my computer...

building security, not anything improper...

USB 2.0 is supposed to have a max length of 5 meters.... though they might work longer than that

we have many handicapped folks in the building and

If you've got a video capture card on your computer it's pretty cheap to add a b/w survellance camera that uses standard rca jacks for video and takes a 9v battery to run it for awhile.

yeah, i got one of those and 75 ft of rca/power for the outside...

i was going to run that into my vcr...

and i cant find the rca to usb hardware by itself, all the comps want to sell me the connector with a program and charge about $80...but the software is included FREE of course...

i have a cheapo digital cam with streaming ability that i wanted to hook up to my extra laptop as i have already modified it into a peephole cam...there may be one place where i can set it up and utillize a 5 meter cord...

i wish they made usb repeater stations, that would solve
my probs, i think...
