I've been away for a little bit...

Sorry, I've been away for a little bit. Had a little accident in the gym, and the disk in my back that I screwed up last year, has been flaring up a considerable bit the past couple weeks. So I have been forced to rethink my training, and it kind of gets me down. I had my mind and heart set on obtaining an Elite Powerlifting total by the end of the year. That was one of the things that I wanted to accomplish this year. But now, due to my back, I am forced to rethink things a little bit in regards to my training.
As much joy and satisfaction as I would get out of obtaining an Elite total, how much joy and satisfaction would I get if countinued to push my body to the limit (as far as strength goes) and that one weak disk, causes the surrounding disks to become weak, and creates problems with them? Then what kind of shape would I be in? Well, judging by the pain I was in for 5 months with one slipped disk, I sure the hell dont want to find out what it would be like to have 3. Not to mention, I dont' want to be a cripple at the age of 25, because I couldn't look at what the possible long term effects could have been.
As much as it pains me to say it, I am going to have to walk away from PL, and my pursuit for strength. I am going to be doing some BBing type of stuff for this year. give myself at least a year, and then get another MRI done to see what the protrusion in my L5-S1 looks like. If it is better, then, maybe I'll consider getting back into the sport.
Even though I didn't get my Elite total, I am still happy with the things that I have accomplished. I have done things strength wise that many people would only dream of. I have benched 2.25 times my body weight (440 bench at 195) deadlifted 2.7 times my body weight (545 at 200) and squatted 2.8 times my body weight (565 at 200.) the squat, was probably over 3 times my body weight, but I didn't push it, because it was my first time taking a weight since the injury.
anyway, that's my situation. I will on here and try to help people out the best that I can by continuing to give advice. It's my way of giving back to the bodybuilding and powerlifting community.

Nice man, very good stats for a guy your size. I'm impressed. I'm 6'2" 220lbs and can't do anywhere near those totals. Be careful with the back and take care of yourself. I pulled a muscle 2 weeks ago to the day, and am getting back to it tonight. I hope I dont' re-injure myself.
