If i was Phelps agent, and after he won 8 gold medals - I announced an open call for EF people to invest minimum $50,000 in future earnings from promotions, marketing, ancillaries, etc. - everyone would jump on it ("Phelps could be worth $100 million!, Phelps could be a movie star, biggest athlete in history!").

BTW, Beckham has hardly been a financial flop. His annual base salary is just $5.5 million. The rest of that inflated $250 million number is based on marketing opportunites, tv deals, camps, jersey sales, etc. They have probably profited from him so far. I still think soccer is a dead end sport.
