Not so bad. Take your pre-bar course this summer (this is key), and the two days in July will fly by. Don't panic if you get lousy scores on the pre-tests either.

Don't think about the pressure, just take the test. Yo have a couple of months to study now, and back when I took it in 93 I didn't get the results back until November, so no need to stress out.

I actually played a baseball game on the night in between the bar. My coach saw me coming with my bag of equipment and said, "WTF are you doing here?" But getting away for a few hours and playing was the best thing I could have done.

Good luck. Any questions let me know.

Good job. Question? What actually is "the bar"? I hear it all the time

The "bar" actually means several things. The "bar" is the regulatory board which oversees lawyers. The "bar" examination, which I was referring to is a 12 hour test that everyone has to pass before they can get thier license to practice law. Not too much fun.

It's All Over But The Cryin'
I never would have thought you were lyin'
It sounded so true
When you said: "I love you."
Now I'll say my goodby-in'
'Cause It's All Over But The Cryin'.

well done sir, why you would do this is anyone's guess, but I must commend you for your dedication to this goal and its resulting achievement.

What state?

Its funny you say that. I tell college kids who are considering law school that law school is not the answer. The three most miserable years of my life. But regardless...I'm ready to make some money now. And on top of that, South Florida is a pretty amenable place for lawyers.

I wish you the best of luck. I know what you're saying - my company has 23 JD's that left the law firm mentality of hourly billing and all of that to come manage litigation for me. They like the set up of managing cases without having to worry about hourly billing or partnership, and since so many of these things can be settled pre-lit, they do a lot of what they were doing anyway as far as negotiating, going to mediations, etc.

It's a small world.

Where are you in S. FL? I have a place in West Palm. You going to practice in Broward County? I have a few guys from Broward that tell me funny stories about a few interesting judges down that way. It'll be fun, I am sure. :rose:

Nothing. I  Intellectual Property.

If you really love IP there is about 10 times as much money in consulting re: IP than in IP law.

And you actually get to help companies leverage IP and apply it across the enterprise, rather than just play with the general counsel.

People that understand how to leverage IP will pull billions off the table as our economy becomes more knowledge depedent. We're betting our company on it as we move into other countries.

Is that what you do, or just an avocational interest?

Yep, but not as an attorney (I'm the one that does everything at the cheaper billable rate). Everything but patents. Mainly, trademarks, domain name issues, copyrights, and licensing. Right now, I'm in-house.
