The only downside is Playstation Plus will now apparently be required for online gaming. But, single player games and all media services will still be free. Considering PS Plus already has a 95% satisfaction rate with all the heavily discounted/free games offered every month and other benefits, I think most would agree it's still a small price to pay for what it can give in return.

while I have zero plans to purchase either, I kind of hope now Sony buries MS. Than someone else comes along and buries Sony....or Sony and MS destroy each other I dunno point is both these companies have salted the shit out of the industry. The bullshit that emanates from both of them is intolerable...just happens that right now MS is way more full of shit than Sony is.

I had a hell of a Xbox arcade library and that won't work either

I had Xbox and 360 but microsofts constant online, drm and shit is fucking awful.

Sony is focusing on what gamers what while m$ is seeing dollar signs

Guess its time to get used to the lame ass ps controller.

Or stick to PC gaming
 
Where are you guys preordering from? Do they charge your card the minute you preorder or the day it ships? I want to hopefully pick it up the day it comes out.

I Chose Xbox over ps2 and 360 over ps3. think I'm going to make the leap over to sony this year.

I did GameStop. But mine sold out the day they started allowing per orders. 100 bucks per consoles 5 bucks for games and accessories.

Amazon will let you per order and won't charge you until it ships. GameStop.com I think charges you upfront.

From what I understand Amazon is already sold out through Christmas for PS4. At least according to first date of availability.

I preordered one from a local Best Buy though so there are still places to get one at launch or close to it.

Yeah. I bounced around today looking to preorder an extra of each system to either sell at a ridiculous profit come the holidays. Or be nice and have it on hand for a friend to buy off me retail value. But five gamestops two best buys. Bj's and three walmarts and nobody had any left for pre order.

I do know that GameStop and bestbuy got more ps4 allotments than x box. And get your wii u's now cause those are gonna be hot during the holidays too when people can't get the other systems.
 
Ive always been an xbox guy as well but its clear the ps4 is going to be the superior console... Its aimed more at gaming and they outsmarted xbox by waiting and letting them release their specs first and then outdid them in nearly every regard... I am making the change and going with the ps4

Oh I agree Sony murdered ms in the release aspect. Though Xbox is going to offer a lot. What a lot of people are missing is while ps 4 has a bit beefier hardware the way Xbox plays game (if it actually plays games lol) allows for the same level of play as Sony.

I'm grabbing both. I Have a 360 and ps3 now so ill get both. What really needs to happen is exclusives need to go away. If publishers stopped doing exclusives we would see a much more competitive console industry. Right now if it's not an exclusive game I get it on 360. Ill just wait and see how it play out.

Nice news for ms is the new x box controller is supposed to be amazing.

I am bothered by the fact that if you dont login everyday on the xbox it will lock you out of your games... You also cant rent games for xbox either... They didnt change their controller or upgrade it nearly as much as the ps did... Theres a lot of things that make the ps a better buy... I am an xbox guy too bro... Im sure i will get them both but i am getting the ps4 first
 
Also updat ms confirmed price point for x box one games to stay at 60 which given the game pricing trend is actually surprising due to inflation and game production costs 60 is a very good price point.

Alo ms is going to do steam like sales on x box live so it's not all so bad

hmm, from what I've read the xbox may be just a tad more powerful while also allowing for future processing to come from the cloud. They're claiming at least that the xbox will be able to triple it's power down the road by offloading to the cloud. Of course than an internet connection is a must anyway. I don't like it, I"d rather have the hardware sitting infront of me. I don't know why people like small form factors, I have a monster super tower from Azza sitting on my desk...I will be swapping hardware in and out of that for years to come.

Remember the Milo stuff they had for the Kinect reveal, saying it would "transform" and "revolutionize" interactivity in games? Well, this is kinda the same story with the cloud-

Xbox Australia spokesman Adam Pollington told Stevivor something similar.

"It's also been stated that the Xbox One is ten times more powerful than the Xbox 360, so we're effectively 40 times greater than the Xbox 360 in terms of processing capabilities [using the cloud],” he said.

...However, a report by David Coombes for Eurogamer’s Digital Foundry states that latency and bandwidth would restrict what the cloud could contribute to a game.

As such, “there's very little evidence that Sony needs to be worried about its PS4 specs advantage being comprehensively wiped out by ‘the power of the cloud’,” said Coombes.

“Without the explicit clarification that they are literally installing four teraflops of server power for each and every Xbox One bought, the claims of that power target can only be considered bogus PR hand-waving to try and detract from the performance deficit with their rival.”

good link. I actually didn't realize that "right now" spec for spec the PS4 was better. And it's going to be $100 cheaper and not come with that eye of sauron Kinect fucking thing. Hmmm.

Most developers didn't even know much RAM PS4 was going to have until the reveal in February. That's how late the decision was made. They basically custom-built the chipset to support it and forecast that by launch it would be financially/physically viable enough to do. There aren't even PC chipsets able to support 8GB of GDDR5 on a single board yet. Initial reports say a lot of it will be idle and wasted though, since the GPU could really only handle half of that at best. It's basically there to ensure all the background functions and OS features work as instantly as possible.

Of course, it won't be long before PCs outpace that amount of memory. But to have all that in a console is still pretty good leverage for the future.

Great info bro... This just further substantiates the advantage the ps4 has... Xbox has a lot of things going on that lead me to believe there are going to be ongoing issues and ps4 has everything looking on point... It seems that the ps4 is catered more to gamers than the xbox... Im really looking forward to getting it! I pre ordered the console, a second controller, nba 2k and drive club as well...
 
Actually I think it would've been better if they just stuck with it and suffered a huge loss in sales, and be forced to bow out of the console market to make way for Valve and Steambox.

What's funny is this small time youtube blogger interviewed "Major Nelson" from Xbox, and specifically called their bluff on this whole issue-

Well apparently it was pretty "simple" enough to change their policies because a day after that interview, no more drm/used game restrictions lol.

Even when the dude's trying to be sincere he inadvertently reveals how ridiculous their family share plan actually was, which is ultimately no better than what he ripped Sony for already trying.

Did you see the article today on fam sharing it said whoevers in the family plan can play your game in demo mode for 45 mins thn are put right to the store to buy it. So it wasn't really sharing.

If xbox is having this many issues now, just imagine when they start fucking with everything to try to keep up with sony... I sense a lot of internal problems in the system... Who the fuck do they think they are? Restrictions on playing fucking games? Obligating you to buy certain things? Really?

Fuck i miss the five hour sessions of nba2k and virtua tennis with endless blunts on dreamcast...

Uh huh, those were the days. Dreamcast nights and Halo nights on xbox1 were....well those days just aren't coming back. Both companies have kind of killed it.

I know your early 20's were spent grooving to KC and the Sunshine band but my early 20's were spent in the late 90's and beginning 00's. If you're still not following what i'm saying is this wasnt' recent. I do not own a console, haven't since the xbox1.
