The FCC can still track you down and sue you if they choose.......it is illegal to DL music that you haven't paid for.

That said, as long as you have the music on CD......meaning you've bought it, it doesn't matter if you copy it to your HD.

To be safe, you should have copies of all the music you have on your HD, stored somewhere on CD, showing that you've paid for it.

It doesn't apply to me because I have an extensive CD collection and I have everything on cd anyway.

It is impossible for anyone to get convicted if you download music unless there is evidence that you are producing/sharing/copying that music for other purposes. If you think you might get in shit, then you will get in shit after dling a single song. You blink you die. So my advise for 'you' is to spend that spare change and be safe that way.
