Depends on how risky you are, but it can be very true. :)

Risk = taking a base pay cut of 50%
Reward = 10% comission and the earning potentail of 6 figures.

Too risky for me (I'm in grad school and working, so I need all the money I can get and stability).

Will that paycut affect your standard of living? What is the industry? Is it a stable industry? What are the odds re: high earning potential? Do you know anyone else that is doing this?

I could get buy with that base salary but barely it would be an adjustment. However I make one sale in a month and I am a okay. Odds seem very good company is working with fortune 1000 clients primarly. Industry is advertising so it has it ups and it downs. I don't know anyone else doing this exact same job. They are opening a new office here currently they have 3 other international offices.

If it is only going to affect you (i.e, no children or other family members), then go for it. You can always give it a few months to a year.

What would you (try to) sell ?

Advertising for digital media boards. IE the NBC boards etc that are up in time square.

Marketing and advertisement budgets have increased in 2004 after the IT-buble-Enron-9/11 crisis

I'd say go for it
and if it doesn't seem to work changer again

Risk does lead to great rewards, it also can go the other way. Bottom line and you know this, do whatever is going to make you feel your being used at your most potential and happiest. Most important is that you do what makes you happy

With the greatest risks in life come the greatest rewards.

I don't know, let me ask you this.

If I risk coming up to T-Dot and taking you out to dinner what kind of rewards can I expect  :rose:

Cheers,
Scotsman

False. Money is God and most of it is inherited. No risk...

No.
That is Lotto mentality.
Hard work is rewarded.
Greatest risk is putting your life in danger.
I don't know any reward that requires you to do that.
The harder you work, the greater would be the reward

I would modify that to say with the greater risk comes the potential for greater returns yet the probability of achieving these returns narrows with the increase in risk?

you need to be honest with yourself..are you good at sales? theres a difference between wanting to do something and being good at it..I suck at sales and didnt do well even though i knew what i was selling inside and out..
