This is pissing me off:

Every month or two, the apartment staff makes random "saftey checks" Basically this means that they come into your apartment unexpectedly and look around when you are not there. This has to be some type of invasion of privacy.

My complex does the same thing, and it always happens when we are not there. Not sure on the legalities of it, I'm sure they had us sign something when we signed the lease, and didn't even kow it.

I bet if you asked the complex to call you before hand, and tell you the time they plan on entering your place, they would have to. That way you could be there, and make sure nothing gets stolen or fucked up.

It may be your stuff, but it's their building. The place belongs to them so Im sure the law is in their favor. Atleast they go in an attempt to make sure things are to spec. There was some landlord around here who didnt take care of his places and they burnt down killing 2 little kids.

If it is in the lease, and you signed it, there is no debate. I am sure it is included.

This is absolutely NOT legal. I had the same situation. I changed the lock on my door and refused to give the manager a key. He bitched and bitched... but they never got in my place again.

It is legal if he signed the lease and the lease included terms upon which the owners could enter the apartment at will...

Where I live the apartment management HAS to give you notice before they enter your apartment.

ask to see a copy of your lease

you may be able to argue it in court even if it is in their (i have no idea what huiman rights laws etc are like in america ) but like matticus said, if you signed it....

estate agentscan soetimes refuse to give out leases as they are afraid other agents will copy the wording of the lease (which i think is a bullsh*t reason to stop you getting it analysed in detail)
