Is there anything else that causes MPB besides DHT?

There's some psych condition that makes you pull your own hair out called Trichotillomania. No BS-do a google if need be.

Anything that impacts the folicules from which hair grows can cause you to shed. What brings on the change can be varied. Apart from DHT, an imbalance in thyroid hormone (T3/T4) can also lead to hair loss.
If you have dry skin (genetic) or due to using certain drugs / chemicals that too can make you hair fall out. Drying hair with very high heat can damage it and cause it to fall out.
Alopecia areata is a condition where round patches of hair completely fall out. No one really knows for sure what causes alopecia areata, but it looks like the body's own immune system attacking the hair follicles. It also runs in some families.
Immune system disorders definitely have an impact on your hair.
Severe problems with nutrition (extreme dieting) also can result in unhealthy hair that falls out or breaks easily.

My son has a full head of hair at 31. Has never done aas.
His Mother's Father had full head of hair.

Arthur L. Rea says any given steroid causes hairloss to a degree, as the receptors in hair are basically the same receptors as in muscle for those with the MPB gene. Obviously some steroids are worse than others, for example Deca doesn't cause hairloss through DHT, i forget the abbreviation for what nandrolones convert to and I'm to lazy to look it up, but it causes less hairloss than DHT and generally displaces it if I'm not mistaken, partly because of the reduction in natural test.

Well that's a good point, I don't know how hairloss would be affected when dutasteride is thrown in with a straight test cycle. I mean, obviously it would be minimized since dutasteride (Avodart) thrwarts the DHT conversion route that finasteride misses and is a powerful drug, but as far as pros and cons, how it would affect gains, and if hairloss was nearly eliminated I can't really say but I'm sure others could.

Androgens attach to AR's in your scalp, which causes an immune reaction where your body actually attacks its own follicles. Dht is an androgen, if you get rid of all the dht, you shouldn't have a problem unless adding other androgens like bbkingpin pointed out. There's not much else to tell you.

I believe Arthur L. Rea and Llewellyn (sp?) both talk about this a lot, but if eliminating DHT didn't hamper gains then Avodart would actually be fairly anabolic which to my understaning it isn't. (Because test levels are actually higher when using finasteride or dutasteride.)
Also some complain of sexual disfunction when using finasteride or dutasteride, which initially on paper wouldn't make sense because again, test levels are actually higher. So basically DHT has a complicated relationship with test and other hormones.

Where did you get your dutasteride from? It came out a few years back but didnt know it was being used for hair loss yet. Is it readily available for hair loss already?? I know finasteride only helps with the first alpha reductase, but Dutasteride helped both.
