Is stress or depression really catabolic?

Is stress or depression likely to set you backwards. I mean, if you eat and train well then you should be okay. So, why do I sometimes hear people say that their strength and size has suffered considerably as a result of personal issues?

Depression is definately catabolic IMO.

It's not just the loss of appetite and the cravings shift away from protein to fats and carbs. Those are the two obvious issues.

The other problem is that depression is usually accompanied by tons of cortisol, which eats muscle and deposits babyfat.

So then technically if you are clinically depressed and anxious, receiving both medical treatment and daily meds, what do you recommend.

Because I know what I think the solution is?

Double your gear,

But this may back fire?

Minimize your stress levels by analyzing the situation. Say...if someone scratches your car - who fuckin cares. It is a scratch ... live with it. Or, your girlfriend is cheating on you...take her for a ride out of town and feed her to the pigs. LOL - I joke. Just take the little things with a grain of salt. Every circumstance has certain levels of stress, just don't let the little things eat at you...and if they do, eliminate the situation.

yes, stress produces cortisol and cortisol downregulates AR's among other things.. so those AAS you're taking will be less effective.

you need to do anything you can to manage and minimise stress

Yes,,they are. Both are more damaging to health then some would ever imagine.

What can you take to maintain cortisol and cortisol levels at normal levels if you are stressed, depressed, etc……

One has to find a way to eliminate the stressors. I don't know any miracle drug other than removing the source. If its a job...find a new one, if its a girl....find a new one. When i went thru my divorce, i lost 30lbs on gear.

Sorry, I gotta comment on this one. I'm not flamin but just trying to educate. Having anxiety is not conquered by saying 'who fuckin cares', or taking things with a grain of salt. Its much, MUCH deeper than that. And if it were that easy, I'm sure a lot of us would find coping a lot easier. I wish I could just say 'who fuckin cares' and feel better...I really do. Its like telling someone who is depressed to just 'get over it'. DOESNT HAPPEN, so before you all go judging us, walk a mile in our shoes.

Anyway, thats a bit off on the thread, dont mean to offend, but seriously...

Now, back to my happy place

This was my first cycle since being on celexa and norvasx...My B/P is 120/80 which its never been better...I also know that I tend not to get so riled up at silly shit..

Here's my cycle...
test cyp 750
deca 400
eq cyp 600
d-bol 50 mgs e/d
nolva 20mgs...

Gain was my upper chest I used alot of dumbells..Benching just doesnt seem to stimulate enough..Perhaps because I cant get away from power benching..

My stomach seems a little distended...Not much more size anywhere else...I'm back down to 250 test cyp right now because I see an Endo guy in 2 weeks..

My point is this cycle I really havent made much in the gain department...The diet could have and should have been a little cleaner...but good for a bulker...I have a weakness for micky d's....but i needed the calories to be over 4000...carbs were up a little on the high side its just i gain alot of strength when i carb...Protein was supplemented with shakes and rotisserie chicken, steak, lamb and pork loin...

So it very well could be the celexa, norvasc, and depression anxiety...I'll be going over that with my Dr....He's going to shit when i tell him what ive been using, doses and time on compared to time off....

It very well could also be something simple like get off totally and clean the receptors out
