...........to want a black vocal coach?

I'm on my 3rd coach within the past two years. He's taught me a vast amount of information, especially how to use all of the muscles in my (throat), and how to sing properly. I'm tired of his attitude, how he's all about himself, interrupting MY vocal lessons to talk about his accomplishments, and him, him, him........its so damn annoying! The coaches that I have had just don't cut it, I WANT MORE!

ANYWAYS.................I'm looking for a black vocal coach. Black singers have a way of singing that sends shivers down my spine! I'm not looking to sing exactly like someone else, but I would like some insight in new ways of singing. I was also possibly thinking of learning some Gospel. I don't want to sound racist or anything when I'm looking, ya know?

I don't think it is wrong for you at all. Personally I would try to get a variety of coaches, put together all of their styles and come up with your own style. So Azia do you have any MP3's floating around? I would love to hear you!

I know what you mean about the black talent. Go to an all black church and see the talent there. It'll humble you. If you find one, don't show everything you can do every time you sing like they do. It's very annoying about the black singers. They all have to custimize the song to showcase themselves. Be the first one to not do that and you'll make a name for yourself on that merit alone. Hell, you are a phone call away from an old Motown singer that hasn't recorded in thirty years. Find one.

Maybe a black vocal coach is what I'm looking for, they may be able to provide what I need. Its not easy finding coaches out there that are worthy. They may have all the experience in the world, but suck ass.

I don't like comparing my voice to anyone, but to get a picture its....................Soft like Sade and Aaliyah, Deep like Toni Braxton, Loud and high like Mariah Carey and Christina Aguilera, and Meaningful/Personal like Shania Twain and Pink .....but of course, its my own voice, with my own words, in my own way. I write all of my own songs, I have about 20 or so. They are all of my own thoughts, my own experiences, and they actually mean something.

No problem! After I got this vocal coach and learned the proper way to sing, it totally enhanced my way of singing along with making my voice stronger!
