hmm. seeing as the beta-cells in your pancreas are constantly starting and shutting down while monitoring blood sugar levels, I wouldn't say that it would be similar to hpta suppression. mainly because there is physical atrophy in the balls, cuz naturally, they aren't meant to be shut down. plus, (although the jury is out on the definative reasons for type 1 diabetes causes (type 2, i think is thought to be mostly genetic)), from what i've heard, over use of the pancreas is thought to be responsible. i.e. in general, people diagnosed with diabetes report diets that are overwhelmingly unheatlhy with tons of simple sugar uptake, though there are people who get it who are in great shape. so, i think most think that it's a combination of genetics and environmental conditions.
