I don't have health insurance, so I can't really afford to go to the doc. Some days it's fine, while other days it's real bad. How can you tell if it's your kidneys??

im no expert but it sounds like it might be ur back if it were ur kidneys it would hurt all the time on the days it hurts get some darvicets if the pain goes away it is ur back if not it is ur kidneys.

what color is your urine?
what AS are you on?
does it hurt your lower back when you bend over to touch your toes?
does it hurt your lower back if you look over either shoulder with a slight twist?
if you lay on your back, does it hurt to pull 1 knee to your chest at a time?

If it is your kidney, the pain would stem from a slight bit lowermid-back and radiate all the way down to your groin area. An early indication would be pissin out reddish-brown blood. Keep some advils ready just in case cause it'll probably be the most painful experience you will ever feel. Good luck and see the doc.
