The south of the border is often easier for any people rather than dealing with all of the bulls**t of overseas, etc.... I have heard goods and bads of everything (isn't that always the case?)

yes, it is easier....but we are talking about your body here..

I dont mind starting my gear gathering early...to ensure that i have the best stuff.

Thats just my opinion...
