I wouldn't turn it off completely...just go up and down until your comfortable. Turning off completely is a huge power drain...way more than a fan.

We have ours on timers, so it works like a thermostat. Turns on when it is warm, and off when it cools it down. Actually saves money. You can buy the timers at Wal-Mart.

Yep, cheaper to keep it running and it's also less wear & tear on the compressor.....the $$$ racks up by turning the compressor on & off plus it puts stress on the system which will make it not last as long as it should....

Adjust the thermostat up & down accordingly or get a programmable thermostat...
