You will probably see some results even if you stay on a maintenence calorie intake, with a lot of protein.
However a high calorie intake comes with several anabolic advantages such as insulin release and your dietary protein will not be used to make carbohydrates.
My advise is: Eat atleast 1000-1500 kcal more than maintenence energy intake, then you will gain a lot more muscle.
