Is divide and conquer the ultimate strategy?

Its a great algorithmic technique and an extrememly useful strategy, lets you focus on details and overcome things one at a time rather than have to negotiate everything as a whole at once using heapify or quicksort or whatever.

It's funny you mentioned algorithm.

A turing machine can do what all other known computing machines can do. Storing and retrieving is a form of divide and conquer.

Also, in war and social situations, divide and conquer seems to be a common theme. In this view, "friends" may actually be "enemies".

This could also be viewed as a semantic question, but: if divide and conquer can do it all, then it can be considered the/an ultimate strategy.
