I'm not accomplished. I write poetry sparingly. Here's one I wrote though. It's about my Ex. It really in response to one of her poems so it might not make a hell of alot of sense. It's pretty short so you won't have to suffer long.

You say you're like glass
And that may be true
But consider obsidian
And it's darkened hue.

That type of glass
Hides all from the eyes
Except those things,
On just the outside.

And when I looked at you
I was trying to find
Some of those things
Hidden deeper inside.

the accomplished part doesn't matter, forget that.

more important, however, is a sincere interest in poetry...or at least a passion for words.

you have to know what you like, and don't like. you should have some idea of what moves you, or what annoys you, etc... when it comes to the written word.

i want to share with someone who is likely to respond with more than just a few superficial comments (honest or otherwise).

i myself don't read much poetry (or write much, until lately), but i can point to some good work, have an interest in discussion, etc...

basically, i'm looking for associations with people who can offer me new perspectives through which i can hopefully improve my writing (i'm a bit lazy to do some of the work and ask even the questions i know i should ask myself).

if any of you think you fit the bill (paulo, if you're still around), let me know. i'll give you a link to my online journal.
