Is anyone here a doomsday prepper?

I know one family who is...have a piece of land in the middle of no where, guns buried in the field, food stored type thing. The end of the world is coming soon!!!
I know some people with a lot of stuff stocked up. Guns, ammo ect. In the event of a catastrophe my .44 magnum vs their face means I now have a bunch of stuff.
What "shit going on"? How are things different now than they've ever been?

I have an entire room in my house full of guns and ammo. Not really a prepper, just more of an enthusiast.
I have actually been downsizing, sold off 4 gun safe's worth of guns I rarely use.
My neighbor is a crazy old man though, and has buried a few of those storage units on his property about 20 minutes away with water and electricity, weapons, iodine, med supplies, and a shit ton of non perishable foods. Lined the walls with some type of lead foil for nuclear protection.
He's a nutty old bastard but he's a good bro. We are the only people for a 20 minute drive in any direction so he always helps me with stuff and visa versa

I wish my house was that isolated.
I actually think there is probably some wisdom in it. My parents have a 3 day supply kit. With the east coast stuff I've thought about it a lot. What would I do if I lost power for that long? Stores closed etc.

Man....its country around where I am but you can't go anywhere, even a few miles into the woods without still hearing tractor trailer tires on the interstate off in the distance.

Having food storage and ample home protection is just common sense.
Storing enough grain, powdered milk etc., and supplies to ensure you can have good drinking water for atleast a year are all "necessities" if you ask me.
Here in the UT, were on a big fault line, and maybe one day we get a catastrophic earthquake and it takes months to get things back in order. Having that back up just in case is not that hard to do and is worth the effort.
Also, having a couple thousand rounds of ammo to protect yourself and your neighbors from criminals and looters is also a good idea.

Well, you know, the Mayans and stuff. Their calendar ya know. It expires and stuff and...
It's just going crazy out there... Haven't you been outside the last couple weeks? It's complete chaos and anarchy everywhere. For example, last night people were shopping like maniacs, people camping outside of stores etc. This is just the beginning. And then it's going to start snowing a lot up north and in higher elevations. It's getting real out there...

Ebs can be as liberal as she wants as long as she keeps looking like that and living within a 3 hour drive of me
regardless of who is president i think a degree of prepping is a good thing.
food, water, a good shelter...all common sense things for any generation at any date.
those that lol and poke fun at the prepper eccentrics will be the ones robbing and stealing when their metro area get's devestated by (insert disaster/war).

I am mentally and physically equipped to do both..
We have a plan..
Point being.. if the wife and i were in different parts of the city, and lets say, some noob blew up the down town area with a poison gas, and the same thing happened in all the major cities in the usa..
we have a plan, she knows what to do, and so do i.. does that make me a prepper?? I do have 6 months worth of dehydrated foods stored, and underground well and a place that is defensible.. does that help??
