irregular heartbeat / supplements

KBgrl

New member
ive been experiencing irregular heartbeat. it only occurs when im relaxed. i can train intensly and im fine but every once in a while ill feel as if my heart misses a beat and then beats an extra time after. its hard to explain. ill feel it on an off from anywhere b/w 15-30 mintues.

im wondering if this can be caused by any of the supps im taking. a "natural biochemist" gave me a supplement program to follow along with a diet for my specific goals. he is pretty well known and widely used by celebs and bb's so im hoping he wouldnt give me anything that could cause this. anyway.. i went to the ER yesterday just to check it out and they gave me an EKG and said i was fine. ?!?!?! they said it might be the supps or just stress.

im taking:
vitamin C 500mg 3x day
b complex 3x day
beta carotine 10,000 1xday
multi minerals 6 a day
lysine 500mg 6 a day
COQ10 30mg 3x day
Glycine 500mg 3X day
l-arginine 500mg 3xday
norival 5 a day

besides feeling like a freak for taking 33 pills a day, the only ones i wonder about are the COQ10 and the norival ,made by cardiovascualr research. the doc at the hospital didnt know anything. they were of no help regarding the supps. maybe one of you can chime in here.

thanks.

Maybe it's from too much gelatine in the 33 capsules!!!! (J/K). Can I assume that this has only started recently, and is not 'normal' for you? Are you also dieting? Exercising more than usual?? And are you stressed? Is you're heart beating faster, or is it just an occasional 'missed' beat? The 'norival' could certainly cause problems....it basically acts like tyrosine supps which may increase catecholamines in people that are low due to dieting or stress. Ceebs had a thread about a similar problem within the last few days (title was something to do with tyrosine.....). How long have you been taking the norival??

In general you are more likely to notice an irregular heartbeat when you are at rest. It doesn't mean it's not happening at other times, just that you can't feel them when you're up and moving about. They are VERY common and mostly nothing to worry about. In this case, I wouldn't worry about them unless the problem gets worse. If you think it could be some of the medications you're taking then try stopping them and see if it goes away.

Are you sure you weren't thinking of me when your heart skipped a beat? :)

hehe.. naw you tend to have influence over my southern region;)

ok, now back to the serious stuff. ive notcied this from time to time when im under a lot of stress but it got worse within the past couple weeks. ive been taking the supps for about 5 weeks now and yea im dieting too. i dont know, maybe its stress:( . its weird b/c it happens at times when im happy too. ill just be sitting around watching a movie or whatever and ill feel it. its an anxious feeling too. ugh. anyway, ive stopped taking my supplements for the time being. maybe it is the norival. im going to see my doc in a few weeks and ill see what he says about the supps he gave me.

KBGirl... I had exactly the same thing. It is harmless but spooky.

...and just so you know it was the same thing... after your heart skips a beat... that next beat feels like it has a little extra kick. Sound familiar?

I can give you the break down of what I was put on that got rid of it in detail if you want me to.

The most important thing, though, is the mineral sup. You need to be taking multi mineral caps, NOT TABLETS. I use TwinLabs MultiMineral caps... one in the morning and one at night.

That sounds very familiar to me.........I've had this happen to me for at least the past 10 years (maybe more). I remember telling a doc about it one time when I was 12 or so and he told me it was in my head (pretty much the exact words). I'd be interested in hearing how you got it under control...thanks.
