Going through Fall camp i am wondering what kinds of things u do to combat soreness in b/w practices...i already am icing...and stretching...gonna go throw some ice in the bathtub... but is there anything else i can do?

BUY SOME BANDS.....active recovery really works

we used light plyo/running sessions for ar in college, now I do most of mine in the pool, and with bands.

Also do what ever it takes to get in some good squat sessions throughout the week. It makes a huge difference in recovery and making minor injuries go away. Supposedly Barry Sanders squated after every practice, while this may seem far fetched it is not a bad idea. Not heavy but for good depth and for 10-15 reps about 4-5 hours after practice, do some ar again the next day with bands and your soreness is gone. You will start to notice a huge difference as the season progresses and you get stronger while everyone else is getting hurt and weaker.

I know it sucks but stretch and drink more than enough water.

Sweet...gonna give it a try..got some bands...not the good PL ones..but enough to do some light chest and shoulder work...

I guess i'll head to the gym for a ligth squat stretch session followed with the ice back i;ve been planning...

Thanks a lot...

You are a real man if you can handle the ice bath, I usually just go to right above the patella. I tried to take a full one once and jim and the boys went on fucking strike.

I took an ice bath once in high school the night before a cross country race. Supposedly, it helps flush lactic acid out of your system. First, you take the ice bath for about 10-15 mins. Then you immediately get into a warm/hot shower and your blood really starts flowing again, flushing it out.

Not sure how true that really is, but it seemed to help me - I set a big PR the next day. Of course, I never did it again. That fucking ice bath was tough.
