Iron Maiden

Does anyone take an Iron supplement? If so what are the benefits and why is it takin? My Doc is thinkin I may have low iron and this was the second different doc that told me that.

Deficiency can lead to fatigue and poor athletic performance.
Dietary souces include red meat, eggs, dark greens like spinach, beans, molasses, brewer's yeast. If intake is OK, it could be due to malabsorption.
Supplementation is usually recommended until you're over the deficiency and then taken only as needed. Taking it with (+)100g of Vitamin C will help with absorption. Don't take it with coffee, tea, soy, or calcium.
I'd also suggest asking your doctor exactly why he's recommending this so that you know exactly where the problem lies.
